Bio

2019: Thackerson took over the reigns as Carson-Newman's starting quarterback down the stretch run his junior year, going 3-1 as a starter.  He completed 24-of-47 passes on the year for 565 yards and four scores.  On the ground, he tallied 70 carries for 185 yards and four scores.  Thackerson helmed Carson-Newman to its first road playoff win in a decade in a 17-9 win at No. 11 Bowie State (11/23).  He completed 3-of-5 passes that day for 137 yards.  His top game on the ground came against Tusculum (11/16) when he tallied 15 carries for 68 yards and a trio of touchdowns.  His top game through the air was at Limestone (11/9) when he completed 8-of-17 passes for 145 yards, including a 53-yarder to Romain Kelly in the final two minutes that helped Carson-Newman drive for a win in the final minute.  

2018: Thackerson appeared in four games before injuring his ACL midway through October. Thackerson was a hyper-efficient passer, completing 9-of-11 passes for 141 yards and two scores.  He fired his touchdown passes against Limestone and Tusculum. Thackerson was perfect through the air against Limestone, Mars Hill and Virginia-Lynchburg.  On the ground, he tallied 33 carries for 188 yards and two scores.  Thackerson averaged 47 yards per game rushing.  He tallied eight carries for 67 yards and a touchdown in his first appearance against Limestone.  He had his long rush of the season that game as well with a 17-yard jaunt against the Saints. 

2017: Appeared in three games in his red-shirt freshman year.  Went 2-for-4 through the air for 20 yards and a touchdown against Pikeville for his lone passing attempts for the season.  Rushed 10 times for 72 yards on the year for 7.2 yards a tote.  Topped out at 31 yards on two carries against Saint Augustine's.

2016: Redshirted 

HIGH SCHOOL: Tyler Thackerson is a quarterback from Clinton High School in Clinton, Tenn. As a three-year starter for the Dragons, Thackerson accumulated over 9,500 yards at the helm of the Clinton offense. He was an All-District, All-Region, All-Prepxtra and All-State player. Thackerson served as a Clinton team captain and was a member of the school's honor roll. He was also recruited by Western Carolina, Tennessee Tech and the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga. He was coached by Josh Kerr.
