Lady Eagles to Face Tusculum in NCAA Opener

April 30, 2009

INDIANAPOLIS - The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles will travel to southern Georgia to face east Tennessee rival Tusculum College in their NCAA Division II Tournament opener, the NCAA announced Wednesday night.

Carson-Newman (13-2) grabbed the South Atlantic Conference's automatic bid after winning the SAC Tournament last weekend in Rock Hill, S.C. Tusculum earned an at-large bid and is the only SAC team to beat the Lady Eagles this season.

The winner of next Thursday's match will face defending national champion and host Armstrong Atlantic State University on Friday. Peach Belt Conference schools Clayton State University and Augusta State University round out the sub-regional field.

The Lady Eagles have won nine-straight matches and are led by SAC Player of the Year Amanda Bartlett (Powder Springs, Ga.) and first team All-SAC selection Elizabeth Sneed (Kingsport, Tenn.).
