Bartlett wins ITA/Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sportsmanship and Leadership Award
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- Carson-Newman's Amanda Bartlett (Powder Springs, Ga.) was awarded the 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association/Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sportsmanship and Leadership Award for the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Southeast Region at the NCAA Championships Banquet in May.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- Carson-Newman's Amanda Bartlett (Powder Springs, Ga.) was awarded the 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association/Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sportsmanship and Leadership Award for the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Southeast Region at the NCAA Championships Banquet in May.
Bartlett, a junior communications major, led the Lady Eagles to their first-ever South Atlantic Conference Tournament title and their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance in the spring and was named SAC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.
The ITA/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award recognizes outstanding individuals in all divisions at the regional and national level. The award, which dates back to 1984, goes to NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and junior college men's and women's players who have exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.
