Eagles Move to 18th in AFCA Poll, Second in Regional Rankings

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman Eagles jumped to spots to
No. 18 in the American Football Coaches Association Poll, released
Monday.
C-N (7-2, 5-0 SAC) beat Brevard on Saturday, 77-7, to win their
seventh consecutive game, and movw within a half game of the South
Atlantic Conference title.
The Eagles travel to Wingate (7-2, 4-1 SAC) on Saturday with at
least a share of the SAC title on the line. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m.
in Wingate, N.C. The Bulldogs, along with Mars Hill, each received
votes in this week's poll.
North Carolina-Pembroke, who C-N beat 35-22 on Sept. 19, is No. 11
in the poll. The University of North Alabama, who beat the Eagles
in September, 31-14, is No.1.
C-N also jumped a spot in the NCAA D-II Super Regional Two
Rankings. It moved past Albany State (Ga.), who lost on Saturday to
Tuskegee (Ala.), 19-14.
The top six teams in the final regional rankings advance to the
NCAA Playoffs. The top two teams receive a first-round bye.
