C-N's Jones Named SAC Special Teams Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Carson-Newman punter Chris Jones (Rome, Ga.)
has been named the South Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player
of the Week, league officials announced today.
Jones, a junior from Rome, Ga. (Coosa HS) punted five times for a
46.2 yard average and a 44.2 yard net (only 10 return yards) as
Carson-Newman (2-2) beat UNC Pembroke 35-22. He pinned the Braves
at the 4-yard line on their opening drive with a 48-yard punt.
The second team All-SAC selection limited the Braves' return game
to just 10 yards on the day. He is averaging 41.3 yards on 15 punts
this season.
Tusculum quarterback Bo Cordell was named SAC Offensive Player of
the Week and linebacker Miles Washington was named Defensive Player
of the Week.
