Two Eagles named to Preseason All-SAC team
Oct. 22, 2008
HICKORY, N.C. - Carson-Newman junior Jordan Dixon (Clinton, Tenn.) and senior Bobby Guyton (Jessup, Ga.) have been named to the preseason All-South Atlantic Conference basketball teams, the conference office announced today.
Dixon, a first team All-SAC selection, averaged 10.3 points per game for the Eagles last season at the point guard spot. He started the first 22 games of the season before suffering a concussion that forced him out of three games at the end of the season. The Clinton High School product led the Eagles with 4.6 assists per game.
Guyton earned second team All-SAC honors after appearing in only 19 games.
The 6'5 forward averaged 10.0 points and 5.9 boards per game a season ago, before suffering a foot injury that ended his season in early February. The Jessup, Ga. native was named SAC Player of the Week for his efforts in his final two games, wins at Newberry and at home against Catawba, before suffering the injury. He has one semester of availability left and will join the team in December.
The Eagles finished 18-9 in '07-'08 and set the South Atlantic Conference record for points per game. C-N averaged 90.3 points an outing.
