Eagles Finish 14th at Bobcat Invitational

EATONTON, Ga. - The Carson-Newman Eagles fired a 54-hole total of 905 (+65) to finish 14th at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia College and State University on Monday and Tuesday at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee in Eatonton, Ga.
The Eagles finished 46 strokes back of host and 8th-ranked Georgia College and State won the team title.
The Bobcats led the first and final rounds, with No. 2 Columbus State University owning the lead after two. The Bobcats finished fired a 284-288-287=859, toppling the second-place Cougars by seven strokes (866). No. 6 Nova Southeastern University was third at 870, No. 15 Valdosta State University was fourth at 876 and No. 20 Barry University and No. 3 Florida Southern College tied for fifth.
Freshman Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) turned in a strong showing, finishing 22nd against an NCAA Tournament-like field, firing a 9-over 219 (74-72-72).
2008 NCAA Tournament qualifier Brad Robinson (Johnson City, Tenn.) turned in a 15-over 225 to finish in a tie for 40th, while sophomore Adam Holt (Liverpool, England) followed four strokes behind Robinson at 229 (+19, 78-73-78).
Junior Cory Hinchey (Abingdon, Va.) and sophomore Blake Howard (Johnson City, Tenn.) each played their top round on the last day, turning in a pair of 7-over 77s. Hinchey finished at 235 (+25) Howard closed the tourney at 237 (+27).
