Eagles finish 13th at First Federal Southeastern Collegiate

VALDOSTA, Ga. -- The Carson-Newman men's golf team finished in 13th place after the final round of the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate on Tuesday at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
The Eagles turned in a team score of 293 in the third round to give them a three-day total of 888 (301-294-293/+24), which was 32 strokes back of first place.
Nova Southeastern won the tournament in a playoff with North Georgia, which entered the day with the lead and shot an even par 288.
Nova Southeastern turned in a three-under 285 on the final day and won the tournament on the second playoff hole. Both Nova Southeastern and North Georgia finished with a three-day score of 856 (-8).
Host Valdosta State shot a one-over 289 on Tuesday to claim third place with an even par 864.
C-N junior Brad Robinson (Johnson City, Tenn.) tied for eighth place after firing a one-under 71 in the final round to finish with a three-day total of 214 (71-72-71).
Junior Corey Hinchey (Abingdon, Va.) finished the tournament with a 223 (+7) after carding a final round 75, while Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) turned in a one-over 73 and Blake Howard (Johnson City, Tenn.) shot a 74.
Valdosta State's Brent Witcher won individual medalist honors with a total of 210 (-6) after firing a 73 on the final day.
Florida Southern shot a three-under 285 to finish fourth with a one-over 865, while Lynn was fifth with a four-over 868. Barry shot an 870 (+6) to finish sixth followed by Rollins with an 871 (+7). West Florida finished eighth with an 875 (+11), and Clayton State placed ninth with an 877 (+13). Florida Tech rounded out the top 10 with a three-day total of 880 (+16).
Lander shot an 883 (+19) to finish in 11th place, and North Alabama was a stroke behind in 11th with an 884 (+20). West Georgia (894/+30), Chico State (900/+36), Delta State (906/+42) and Eckerd (915/+51) closed out the field.
The Eagles return to action on March 22 in the 2009 Bobcat Invitational at The Golf Club at Cuscowilla in Eatonton, Ga.
