JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Hometown-product Clark Paschal has signed to play baseball at Carson-Newman, head coach Tom Griffin announced Monday.

Paschal batted .286 as a senior at Jefferson County High School, scoring 20 run and striking out only six times in 91 at-bats. He finished the season with a .451 slugging percentage and 17 RBIs.

"Clark is a very smart baseball player with good instincts for the game," Grffin said. "He's a very competitive player who shows good leadership skills on the field. He's just a solid student-athlete who will fit in well with us."

The Eagles were 24-21 in 2009.
