Carson-Newman Men's Golf Finishes in a Tie for Third in Honda of Columbia Fall Classic
PROSPERITY, S.C. -- The Carson-Newman men's golf team opened the
season on Saturday by finishing in a tie for third place in the
Honda of Columbia Fall Classic at the Mid-Carolina Club.
The Eagles began the day by shooting a first-round score of 285
before closing out the tournament with a 287, giving them a
two-round total of 572 (-4) to finish in a tie with Coker College.
Newberry, the tournament host, won the event for a fourth-straight
year with a two-round total of 551 (-25), followed by UNC Pembroke
with a 556 (-20).
C-N sophomore Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) carded consecutive 69s
for a two-round total of 138 (-6) to finish in a tie for third
place. Senior Brad Robinson (Johnson City, Tenn.) tied for ninth
place with a 141 (-3) after shooting a 70 in the first round and a
71 in round two.
Cory Hinchey (Abingdon, Va.), Gavin Hay (Glascow, Scotland) and
Chase Conn (Mason, Ohio) shot scores of 146 (+2), 148 (+4) and 150
(+6), respectively, for the Eagles.
C-N returns to the course on Sunday in the Laker Invitational at
the Crystal Lake Country Club in Hampton, Ga. The Eagles will go
through a practice round Sunday before beginning the first round on
Monday.
