Lady Eagles finish fifth at McAmis Memorial
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Seniors Jennifer Oliver finished in a tie for fourth and senior Erica Ray finished tied for 10th to help the Lady Eagles to a fifth place finish at the 2012 Agnes McAmis Memorial Tournament, which wrapped up Tuesday at Link Hills Golf Club.
Both Lady Eagles fired a 74 in their final round to finish in the Top 10.
Oliver finished the tournament with a 148 (+4) for the tournament after a pair of 74s in the event. She finished seven strokes off the lead and tied with North Georgia's Catalina Olarte for fourth.
Ray followed her 77 (+5) on Monday with a 2-over 74 in Tuesday's final round to climb six spots on the leaderboard.
Carson-Newman finished the tournament with a 626. C-N improved on Monday score by four strokes with a 311 on Tuesday, but couldn't catch Columbus State (Ga.) or any of the top four teams in the 18-team event.
Tusculum's Jillian Corum won the individual title with a 3-under 141. The host Pioneers also won the team title, beating Lincoln Memorial by 11 strokes with a 593 (+5). Lander Finished third with a 606 (+18), one shot ahead of CSU.
C-N's Lauren Hodge was the top finisher among individuals in the tournament. She shot a 77 on Tuesday and tied for 23rd at 155 (+11) for the tournament.
Sophomore Louise McGillvray tied for 51st after an 81 in the final round with a 164 (+20).
Sophomore Mary Tunnell closed the event with an 82 and junior Melanie Manis shot an 87. Manis and Tunnell tied for 62nd with a 168 (+24).
Freshman Chelsea Passmore had a pair of 81s and tied for 43rd, also playing the event as an individual.
The Lady Eagles will try to make it three South Atlantic Conference titles in the program's first four years when they return to action on April 16-17 at the 2012 Food Lion SAC Golf Championships. The event returns to Rock Barn Golf and Country Club in Conover, N.C.
