JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman head women’s basketball coach Mike Mincey has signed three student athletes, all from East Tennessee, for the 2014-15 season of Lady Eagles basketball. Guard Kayla Newman (Alcoa, Tenn.), post Jessica (Jecca) Simerly (Talbott, Tenn.), and forward Allison Hodge (Blaine, Tenn.) have signed national letters of intent to play for the Lady Eagles during the early signing period.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles women’s basketball team finished their exhibition schedule by falling to the No. 4 Tennessee Lady Volunteers 115-31 at Thompson-Boling Arena on Monday night. The win for Tennessee is the tenth straight in the exhibition series and marked the ninth time in 10 meetings that the Lady Vols have scored over the century mark against Carson-Newman.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles women’s basketball team was tabbed for a fifth place finish in the 2013-14 South Atlantic Conference women’s basketball preseason coaches’ poll. The Lady Eagles received the most votes for a team that did not receive a first place vote, as Carson-Newman came in behind Newberry, Lenoir-Rhyne, Wingate, and Catawba in the balloting.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles women’s basketball team fell to the no. 11 North Carolina Tar Heels by a score of 111-50 at Carmichael Arena on Wednesday night. The Lady Eagles played a physical game with the Tar Heels, collecting 35 rebounds with 22 of those coming on the defensive glass.
