Eagles Eighth After 36 Holes at Queens Invitational

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - The Carson-Newman Eagles fired a 49-over par 625 to take eighth through the first two rounds of the Queens University Invitational played on the Pete Dye Valley Course at the TPC Sawgrass on Monday. 

The Eagles opened with a 311 (+23) in the opening round, and followed with a 314 (+26) in the day's second 18 holes to finish eight shots behind Belmont Abbey College, who sits in seventh. Abilene Christian University leads the tournament with a seven-over par 583.

Junior Liam Ashby (Dublin, Ireland) is in a tie for 20th after carding an 8-over 152 (74-78) during the first two rounds. He's a stroke ahead of teammate Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland), who closed the day at 153 (72-81). His opening-round 72 (E) was the Eagle's lowest round of the day.

Freshman Jonathan Kim-Moss (Mississauga, Canada) is in a tie at 40th after shooting 159 (85-74) on the day.

Senior John Minor Jr. (Dandridge, Tenn.) is in a tie at 52nd after putting up a 154 (80-84).
The final round of the tournament will be completed on Tuesday.
