Bio

2015: A first team All-SAC quarterback, Thomas pushed his consecutive start streak to 35 straight games. Thomas finished his C-N career by becoming the first Eagle to ever throw for 400 yards in a game, doing so in the Eagles' playoff loss against Valdosta State. Thomas finished 20-for-27 with 416 yards passing, besting Danny Sanders' previous mark of 380 yards set in 1978 against Lenoir-Rhyne. he Milledgeville, Ga.-native inserted himself into the Carson-Newman record books in his senior season. Thomas finishes his career with 43 rushing touchdowns, good for fourth all-time and first among C-N quarterbacks.  His 2,592 yards rushing are 15thall-time. He ranks first in career completion percentage (56 percent) and his 4,751 yards passing are fourth all-time for C-N.  

2014: A first team All-SAC quarterback, pushed his consecutive start streak to 23 as he started all 10 games under center as a junior.  Thomas continued to showcase his capabilities in his junior season by rushing for 850 yards with 12 touchdowns and passing for 1,170 yards with nine scores. Thomas' best performance came in the Eagles 35-33 win over Catawba (9/27). He earned both SAC and TSWA offensive player of the week honors after passing for 173 yards and a score while rushing for four more touchdowns and 104 yards. He passed for a season-high 208 yards against Mars Hill (10/4).  Thomas came within a rushing touchdown against the Indians of tying the school record for TDs in a single game.  He had four, the school record is five, held by Buck Wakefield. Thomas also found the end zone multiple times on the ground against Lenoir-Rhyne (11/1) and MHU.  He passed for multiple touchdowns against Edinboro (9/4), Brevard (9/20) and Tusculum (10/18).  All his nine touchdown passes came in the season's first six weeks.  

2013: A 13-game starter at quarterback as a sophomore, set Sparks-era single season record for completions with 118.  Led the nation with the fewest interceptions with just two.  Completed 55.7 percent of his passes - 118-212 - for 1,825 yards and nine passing touchdowns.  On the ground, Thomas became the first Carson-Newman quarterback and the fourth player overall with 20 rushing touchdowns in a single season.  He toted the ball 194 times for 985 yards with a long run of 73 yards which came against Colorado Mines (9/14).  He set the single game pass efficiency record in the opener against Wayne State with a 357.92 efficiency rating. Produced the third and fouth +200 efficiency ratings in C-N football history in his sophomore year.  Had a 212.80 rating against Wingate (11/16).  He had four, 200-yard passing games; they came against Wayne State (9/5) with 213 yards, North Greenville (10/26) with 231 yards, Newberry (11/9) with 200 and the Wolves against in the playoffs with 205 yards.   He set a Sparks-era single game record with 15 completions against the Crusaders.  Had a trio of touchdown passes against Wayne State and a pair at Wingate. On the ground, Thomas produced three 100 yard games and finished second on the team in rushing.  He had his high water mark against Tusculum (10/19) with 182 yards on 19 carries.  Also crested the century mark at Mines (9/14) with 166 yards and at Wingate with 123 yards.  He had multiple rushing touchdowns in seven of 13 games for the Eagles, including three games with a hat trick of scores.  Accomplished that feat against Newberry (11/23), Wingate (11/16) and North Greenville (10/26).  He finished the year with 11 TDs in C-N's final six games.   

2012: Backup to first team all-SAC quarterback and co-offensive player of the year Brandon Haywood in his freshman season at Mossy Creek. Saw action in seven games. Completed three of his eight passes for 40 yards with a long pass of 26 yards.  Rushed the ball 21 times for 116 yards and two scores.  Averaged 5.5 yards a carry and 16.6 yards a game.  Had a long run of 24 yards.  Scored his touchdowns in back-to-back games against Catawba (10/6) and North Greenville (10/13).  Had a career high 34 yards on four carries against the Indians.  Then topped it with four carries for 38 yards against Brevard (10/27). Led the South Atlantic Conference in scoring with 9.2 points per game.   

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Baldwin High School in Milledgeville, Ga., where he was coached by Dexter Copeland. Named the Offensive MVP for Baldwin and earned All-Region Second Team, All-State Third Team honors, and was the All-County Offensive Player of the Year. A part of the Baldwin team that was the 2008-09 3-AAA Region Champions, and the 2009-10 3-AA Region Champions. Was named to the 2011 Merit List.

PERSONAL: Son of Kim Thomas. Plans to major in Mass Communications/Media Studies at Carson-Newman. Related to Reshad Jones, who played in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins.
