Orange Clinch Series With 1-0 Win In Bottom of 7th
PJ Sardnia beat out a potential ending inning double play to allow Kevin Franchetti to score the winning run and clinch the world series title for the Big Orange
It was a pitching dual all night long at Jefferson County HS on Monday night. Daniel Sharp started for the Big Orange and threw four scoreless innings allowing one hit and striking out five. Josh Russell came in relief and went three innings allowing 0 hits and striking out five. Ryan Fillers started and finished the game for the Blue Chips, allowing five hits, one earned run while striking out eight batters.
The only real threat of the night was in the bottom of the 7th. Kevin Franchetti led of the inning with a double off the wall in center. Evan Jurjevic ground ball up the middle hit pitcher Ryan Fillers, and allowed Franchetti to advance to third. With one out, Manager Mason Guymon walked pinch hitter Jackson Reid to set up the double play. PJ Sardnia's hit a sharp ground ball to first basemen Shade Jett but was able to beat the throw from shortstop Bo Ausmus to allow Franchetti to score the winning run.
