Yocom Leads Orange to Game 3 Victory
Quinton Yocom threw a complete game three hitter to lead the Big Orange to a 6-0 lead over the Blue Chips and a 2-1 series lead
Quinton Yocom pitched a complete game three-hitter to give the Big Orange a 2-1 lead in the Blue and Orange Fall World Series. Game 4 is scheduled for 6:00pm at Jefferson County HS tomorrow.
Yocom dominated the whole game, striking out six and walking only one batter. The only threat from the Blue Chips came in the 5th inning. With two outs, Joe Tipton walked and Gooch Greer followed with a single into left field. With runners on first and second, Yocom struck out Bo Ausmus to end the threat.
The Big Orange would score two runs in the first inning of Blue Chips starter Dustin Dunagan. Peter Rajkovich was hit by a pitch, Evan Kirkpatrick followed with a single. Philip Duncan drove home one run with a sacrifice fly and Kevin Franchetti drove home the second run with a single up the middle. Jackson Reid drove home a run with a sacrifice fly in the third inning. The Big Orange scored three more runs in the 7th to extend the lead to 6-0 and more importantly a 16-7 lead in total runs scored.
Dustin Dunagan was effective after the first inning for the Blue Chips going 6 innings and striking out 6 batters and not allowing a walk. Zach Long had two of the three hits for the Blue Chips.
