Big Orange Smash Blue Chips in Game 1
Chris Armstrong pitched six strong innings and Pete Rajkovich's three run home run lead Big Orange over the Blue Chips in Game One 7-2
Chris Armstrong picked up the win for The Big Orange going six innings scattering 4 hits and striking out seven, leading The Orange to a victory in Game 1 of the Blue and Orange World Series. Game two will start at 12:00 tomorrow with National League rules.
The Blue Chips got on the board in the bottom of the first on a Bryan Everhart single, that scored Trace Rogers who had walked and stolen second base. It did not take The Big Orange long to take the lead. Evan Jurjevic led off the top of the second with a single. Kevin Franchetti walked followed by a RBI single by Freshmen Jackson Reid. After two strikeouts, leadoff hitter Peter Rajkovich hit a three-run home run to give the Orange a 4-1 lead.
The Blue Chips would threaten that lead in the third inning. With tow outs, Bo Ausmus was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on a double by Bryan Everhart to cut the Orange lead to 4-2. Cody Fox reached on an error, to give the Blue Chips runners on second and third. Catcher Kevin Franchetti blocked a ball in the dirt and caught Byran Everhart off the bag at third to end the threat.
The Orange would score three more runs in the 6th on a double by Kevin Franchetti and a sacrifice fly by Jackson Reid.
