Bio

Becky Cate enters her seventh year on the Carson-Newman athletic training staff and her third as Associate Director of Sports Medicine.  

Cate is responsible for Carson-Newman's women's basketball and golf teams. 

In 2015 she earned the Tennessee Athletic Trainers Association's Backbone Award - presented  to that person whose commitment and enthusiasm exemplifies the unselfish loyalty to their respective programs, staff and athletes.

From 2009-2011 she was the assistant athletic trainer at Tulane University in New Orleans, La., where she oversaw volleyball, men's and women's track and field, as well as cross country.  

Cate oversaw Tulane's GAs for cross country in the final year of her stint for the Green Wave.  While there she was responsible for coordinating schedules for five full time ATCs and two graduate assistants to ensure athletic training room and practice coverage.  

She also oversaw first aid and CPR instruction for the coaching staffs of the school. 

Prior to Tulane, Cate spent two years as a graduate assistant at Southeastern Louisiana University.  In addition to supervising the athletic training room, she spent time with softball, football, men's and women's track and field.  She helped run the men's Southland Conference Track and Field Championships in 2009. 

She is a member of the Louisiana and Tennessee Athletic Training Associations, the Southeast Athletic Training Association, the National Athletic Training Association and the Tennessee Athletic Training Association.  She serves on the TATS Scholarship Committee. 

Cate has earned American Red Cross Instructor certification.  She is also certified in the M1 Garston Technique.

She is married to David Cate. They have two children and reside in Knoxville.
