Three Lady Eagles Named All-SAC, Sneed Named SAC Scholar-Athlete

ROCK HILL, SC – Carson-Newman seniors Elizabeth Sneed (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Amanda Bartlett (Powder Springs, Ga.) have been named to the 2010 All-South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis First Team, and junior Taryn Cappadonna (Kennesaw, Ga.) has been named to the second team, league officials announced today. Sneed was also named the 2010 South Atlantic Conference Scholar-Athlete for women's tennis.

Bartlett, the two-time South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year and a four-time All-SAC selection, led the Lady Eagles to an 11-4 overall record by posting a 12-2 record in doubles and a 10-4 record in singles on the year. She plays the No. 1 spot for the Lady Eagles in both.

Cappadonna, a two-time All-SAC selection, closed with a 12-2 record at No. 2 doubles and a 12-2 record at No. 4 singles for the Lady Eagles.

Sneed received the Scholar-Athlete Award for women's tennis. Sneed is a senior with a double major in accounting and Spanish, and has a 3.91 GPA.

She is a three-time first-team All-SAC selection. This season, she was 4-4 in conference play at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles, and 10-4 overall in singles play and 11-3 in doubles play.

She is a member of three honor societies, including serving as president of Sigma Delta Pi, the Spanish honor society. She has been named to the Dean's List every semester. Sneed has served as a senator in Carson-Newman's student government association and volunteers with several civic groups. Elizabeth has worked with organizations that help clothe and feed needy families, and distribute food to low-income families, as well as preparing tax returns for those that need assistance.

Lincoln Memorial University standout freshman Leah Donoff, who led the Lady Railsplitters to the conference championship, headlines the 2010 All-SAC Women's Tennis Team.

Donoff, a freshman from Tipp City, OH (Tippecanoe High School), went 17-2 overall in her rookie season, including a 15-2 record at No. 1 singles, and was named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year. She went 7-1 in singles play against conference opponents. She also went 16-2 at doubles and was unbeaten in doubles play with partner Melanie Smith.

Lincoln Memorial head coach Benny Collins was named Women's Tennis Coach of the Year after leading the Lady Railsplitters to the conference championship with a 7-1 league record and 16-3 overall.

Lincoln Memorial, Carson-Newman, and conference co-champion Tusculum College each placed three on the All-Conference Team.

The All-Conference team is selected by the league's head coaches.

The awards will be presented Friday after the women's semifinals matches of the 2010 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament. The tournament is being played at the Rock Hill Tennis Center in Rock Hill, S.C.
