Carson-Newman's Kee earns SAC Softball Player of the Week honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. — Carson-Newman senior shortstop Whitney Kee (Knoxville, Tenn.) has been named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday.
Kee led the Lady Eagles to a 5-1 week by belting three home runs and batting .500 over the six games. She went 7-of-14 at the plate with 10 RBIs and four extra base hits. She reached base in 10-of-17 plate appearances for a .588 on-base percentage.
Kee started her week with a two-run home run in a 9-0 win against Lincoln Memorial on Tuesday as the Lady Eagles swept the Railsplitters. She followed with an eight-RBI weekend, including a two-run RBI single in C-N's 8-7 win over No. 10 Lenoir-Rhyne. Kee added six RBIs and two home runs in a pair of Sunday wins in South Atlantic Conference play at Anderson.
Kee and the Lady Eagles return to action on Tuesday at home against Tusculum College. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. at the Lady Eagle Softball Complex.
