Four Lady Eagles Named to SAC All-Tournament Team
ROCK HILL, S.C. The Carson-Newman softball team had four players selected to the 2010 South Atlantic Conference All-Tournament team. First baseman Sara Little (Calhoun, Ga.), shortstop Jessie Howard (Knoxville, Tenn.), pitcher Mary Shealy (Clinton, S.C.) and outfielder Whitney Durham were named to the All-Tournament team after leading the Lady Eagles to a second-place finish in the tournament last weekend.

First baseman Sara Little (Calhoun, Ga.), shortstop Jessie Howard (Knoxville, Tenn.), pitcher Mary Shealy (Clinton, S.C.) and outfielder Whitney Durham were named to the All-Tournament team after leading the Lady Eagles to a second-place finish in the tournament last weekend.
Little hit .429 with three home runs and seven RBIs for the tournament, while Howard batted .444 with three RBIs. Shealy carried C-N with her arm as she won three games in the circle, and Durham batted .333 and drove in three runs.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore catcher Sarah Atkins was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Atkins hit .450 during the tournament with three home runs and seven RBIs in seven games.
She is joined on the All-Tournament team by Lenoir-Rhyne teammates Alex Smith, Carlee Carpenter, and Kat Rivers. Smith won five games in the circle during the tournament. She picked up both pitching wins on Sunday, including the win in relief in the championship game. Carpenter hit .400 with seven RBIs and two home runs, including a three-run blast in the championship game. Rivers hit .333 with six RBIs and two home runs.
Mars Hill's Ashley Seawell, Newberry's Amanda Huckestein and Wingate's LaRonda McClain round out the All-Tournament Team.
Seawell hit .462 with seven RBIs in four tournament games. Huckestein had 25 strikeouts and a 1.40 ERA in three tournament games. McClain his .533 in four games.
The All-Tournament team is selected by the tournament's participating head coaches.
