Lady Eagles' Morris Named All-Region
Nov. 11, 2008
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Caron-Newman defender Melissa Morris (Sweetwater, Tenn.) has been named to the 2008 Daktronics Women's Soccer All-Southeast Region first team, released Tuesday.
Morris keyed the Lady Eagles run to both the South Atlantic Conference regular season and tournament titles. She anchored a Lady Eagle defense that posted five shutouts in eight conference regular season matches. The sophomore transferred from Charlotte after her freshman year, and had an overwhelming impact on both her team and the SAC.
Carson-Newman (15-5-1) will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament, beginning Friday. The Lady Eagles, who received a first-round bye, will face the winner of Friday's match between UNC Pembroke/Pfeiffer on Sunday afternoon. The second round match begins at 1 p.m. in Jefferson City.
The Daktronics Women's Soccer All-Southeast Region is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
