MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Carson-Newman sophomore Mary Tunnell (Memphis, Tenn.) fired a four-over par 76 to lead the Lady Eagles to an opening-round 311 (+23), four strokes off the pace at after the opening round of the 2011 Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate, played Monday  at the Sea Trail Golf Links in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Tunnell is tied for fifth and two strokes behind the leader, Emee Hebert of Tusculum College, who shot 73 (+1) on Monday.

Carson-Newman sits four strokes back of Tusculum College, which leads after a 307 on Monday.

Seniors Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) and Jennifer Oliver (Knoxville, Tenn.) are both tied for 17th after matching 78s on Monday. Ray fired an even-par 36 on the front nine.  

Sophomore Louise McGillivray (Banchor, Scotland) is 23rd after a 79 on Monday, while sophomore Lauren Hodge (Jefferson City, Tenn.) is 30th after an 81 on Monday.

Tarleton State and Lincoln Memorial are tied for third place with 312, while UNC Pembroke is fifth with 314. Newberry is sixth with 321, followed by Armstrong Atlantic (323), Anderson (326), Queens University of Charlotte (331), Erskine (336), King (337), Wingate (339), Pfeiffer (339), host Lenoir-Rhyne (340), Coker (348), Catawba (353), Merrimack (354), Limestone (361), Eckerd (363), St. Andrews (407) and Savannah State (417).

The tournament concludes with Tuesday's final round.
