Carson-Newman Names Amanda Moore Head Women's Golf Coach
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman College has hired former Wake Forest University standout Amanda (Mandy) Moore as its head women's golf coach, athletic director David Barger announced Wednesday.
Moore joins the Lady Eagles after spending this past season at Eastern Kentucky University as a graduate assistant with the women's golf program and as an external relations intern with the Colonels' athletic department. While at EKU, Moore earned an M.S. in Physical Education and Sports Administration.
As a collegian, Moore was two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference performer at Wake Forest in 2006 and 2007. In her senior season, she was named third team All-American by Golfweek and was a two-time honorable mention All-American selection by the National Golf Coaches Association. She is also a former Kentucky Women's Open Champion ('04) and Kentucky Women's Amateur Champion ('02).
In '07 and '08, Moore played professionally in 11 events on the Duramed Futures Tour.
Off the course, Moore was named the Wake Forest Dean's List six times and was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll. She was also active with the Wake Forest Student Athletic Advisory Committee and the Wake Forest Athletes in Action program.
Moore has a B.A. in Communications from WFU, and has worked as a sports production assistant at WKYT in Lexington, Ky.
Moore replaces Holly Cantwell Clark, who coached the Lady Eagles to the South Atlantic Conference title in 2009 in the program's first season. She left C-N to accept an assistant coaching position at Vanderbilt University last month.
The Lady Eagles open their fall season on Monday at the Queens University Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
C-N athletic director David Barger on the hiring of Moore:
"It is a real pleasure to welcome Mandy to our athletic department family. She comes highly recommended from a tradition-rich women's golf program. We are confident that Coach Moore will continue to move our Lady Eagle team in a positive direction."
