Carson-Newman's Tarbet Plays in 34th U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Rising Lady Eagle senior Jessica Tarbet (Corryton, Tenn.) recently qualified for the 34th U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship and competed in the event last week at Warren Golf Club at Notre Dame.

Tarbet, who was one of only two golfers from Tennessee to qualify, shot rounds of 76 (+5) and 79 (+8) in the stroke play part of the event, failing to qualify for the match play portion by just three strokes.

Tarbet was one of only 156 players to qualify for the championship after shooting a 73 (+2) in her qualifying round at the Oaks Course in Covington, Ga.

Tarbet turned in a stellar campaign for Carson-Newman as a junior. Her scoring average of 78.5 ranked fifth in the South Atlantic Conference as she finished the year with seven top 10 finishes, including four in the top five. She helped lead the Lady Eagles to a second place finish at the SAC Championship and a first-ever berth to the NCAA Division II South Regional Tournament.
