Lady Eagles Second After First Round of Agnes McAmis Memorial
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — The Carson-Newman women's golf team is in second place after shooting a 304 (+16) on Monday in the first round of Tusculum College's Agnes McAmis Memorial at Link Hills Country Club.
The Lady Eagles are six shots back of tournament leader Methodist University, which turned in a 298 (+10). Belmont Abbey (309), Queens (310) and Anderson (311) round out the top five. Catawba is in sixth with a 317, while the Pioneers are in seventh with a 322.
C-N has three golfers in the top 10 with senior Sarah Jane Sinard (Jefferson City, Tenn.) and junior Jessica Tarbet (Knoxville, Tenn.) leading the way. Sinard and Tarbet both fired 1-over 73s on Monday to finish the day in a tie for fourth. Freshman Melanie Manis (Louisville, Tenn.) is in seventh after shooting a 74.
C-N's Erica Ray (Maryville, Tenn.) is in a tie for 47th after turning in an 84, while Leah Hagedorn (Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.) shot a 92 for the Lady Eagles.
Catawba's Kelsey Babos and Wingate's Ashley Denton are in a tie for first after firing 1-under 71s on Monday.
The final round of the Agnes McAmis Memorial will begin on Tuesday morning at Link Hills Country Club.
