JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles basketball team will honor breast cancer survivors and benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund with “Pink Night” and “Play 4Kay Night” as the lady Eagles host Mars Hill at Holt Fieldhouse on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game, and pink Kay Yow Foundation t-shirts will be available for sale at the game with all proceed benefitting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Breast cancer survivors are encouraged to attend and will be honored during the game.

Junior Shyra Clark (Cleveland, Tenn.) scored a career-high 21 points and collected her third double-double of the season with 14 rebounds. Also with a double-double for the Lady Eagles was senior Courdne Miles (Burlington, N.C.) with her season-high 14 points and 10 rebounds, and she has now scored double-digit points in four of Carson-Newman’s last five games.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles basketball team will finish out its exhibition schedule on Saturday afternoon, facing the ETSU Lady Bucs at 1:30 p.m. in the ETSU/Mountain States Health Alliance Athletics Center. Carson-Newman is coming off of losses to North Carolina and Tennessee, as the no. 16 Lady Vols beat Carson-Newman 104-44 at Thompson-Boling Arena on Thursday night.

Lady Eagles Travel to Knoxville
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles basketball team will continue their exhibition schedule by facing the no. 16 Tennessee Lady Volunteers at Thompson-Boling Arena on Thursday night at 7 p.m. This is the ninth consecutive year the Lady Eagles and Lady Vols have met, in a series that dates back to 1920. The Lady Vols have scored at least 100 points in seven of the last eight meetings, and Carson-Newman’s last win against Tennessee was a 36-16 victory in Knoxville on Feb. 9, 1925.

Gilmore Joins Lady Eagles
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles have added junior guard Takyah Gilmore to the 2012-13 women’s basketball signing class. Gilmore joins the Lady Eagles from Roane State Community College in Harriman, Tenn., where she played during her freshman and sophomore seasons. “From the first time we brought her on campus and worked her out, her athleticism is the one thing that really shined,” said Carson-Newman head coach Mike Mincey. “She’s a really nice kid and wants to work hard, and her athleticism is one of the main reasons why we wanted to bring her on board.”
