Laura Elliot enters her first season as a graduate assistant with the Lady Eagles.

Elliot comes to Mossy Creek after playing two seasons at conference opponent Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn. Elliot, whose career with the Railsplitters was plagued by a torn ACL and broken ankle, graduated from LMU in 2008.

Prior to playing at LMU, Elliot was a standout at Ohlone College in Fremont, Calif., where she earned first team All-Conference honors and was named honorable mention All-State and Offensive Player of the Year. Elliot led Ohlone in rebounds both seasons.

Elliot, a native of Livermore, Calif., has spent the last two years gaining experience in the coaching profession. Last season, she was the head coach of a seventh grade AAU squad and guided her team to a title in the Memorial Day Jam Tournament in Reno, Nev., which hosted 400 teams. In 2008-09, Elliot went back to Ohlone to be an assistant coach and was there with current Carson-Newman guard Cassie Bates. Elliot helped lead Ohlone to a 12-0 conference record and a berth in the Sweet 16 of the North.

Elliot resides in Jefferson City and is working toward a master's degree in business administration.
