Lady Eagle Assistant Emily Paffrath Named To Wingate Womens Basketball All-Decade Team
WINGATE, N.C. – Carson-Newman
women’s basketball assistant coach Emily
Paffrath has been named to the Wingate women’s
basketball All-Decade Team, Wingate officials announced recently.
Paffrath is one of five former Bulldogs selected to the squad.
“It’s a terrific honor for her; Wingate has had a
lot of great players come through their program through the
decade,” said C-N head coach Dean
Walsh. “From a coach that faced her in as many
games as I have, I was glad to see her graduate because of her
defensive ability and athleticism. She should be proud of this
because it is well-deserved. I’m glad that she’s on our
side now.”
During her four year career at Wingate, Paffrath was a two-time
All-South Atlantic Conference honoree and was named SAC Freshman of
the Year for the 2003-04 season. She holds conference records in
blocks with 327 for her career and blocks per game at 2.66 for her
career. Paffrath was also part of four SAC regular season
championship teams and finished her career with 1,100 points and
742 rebounds.
“I am honored to be selected; I am lucky that I was able
to get to play with some of the other people that made the
team,” said Paffrath. “Wingate has had some
great teams and players over the decade so being one of five
selected is a huge honor. I didn’t always have the most
points, so it’s great that I was recognized for my
defense.”
Joining Paffrath on the all-decade team are Tanetra Barrett,
Tameshia Dawkins, Tricia Peckham and Anna Atkinson, who was named
“Player of the Decade.”
