Lady Eagles’ Mendenhall Named SAC Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Carson-Newman junior guard Mandy Mendenhall (Kingston Springs, Tenn.) has been named the South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday.

Mendenhall averaged 20.5 points, five assists and 4.5 rebounds, as the Lady Eagles improved to 6-0 on the season with two wins at the Columbus State Thanksgiving Tournament over the weekend.

Mendenhall fired in a game-high 20 points, dished out five assists and grabbed four rebounds to lead C-N to a 71-60 win over Georgia College on Friday. She then poured in 21 points, tallied five assists and pulled down five rebounds in a 68-64 win over Columbus State on Saturday.

She shot 51.5 percent from the floor and was perfect from the line in six attempts, as the Lady Eagles grabbed two key regional wins.

Mendenhall’s defense was equally impressive. She led the Lady Eagles with eight steals in the two games. She also had two blocked shots.

Mendenhall is averaging 16.4 points per game this season.

C-N returns to the hardwood on Wednesday at Maryville College. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
