Francis Marion drops C-N, 9-0

JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. - The Eagles fell to Francis Marion University, 9-0. Carson-Newman drops to 1-3 in season play and 1-0 in the South Atlantic Conference.
Francis Marion swept the Eagles in both singles and doubles play. The No. 1 and 2 matches fell 8-1. Francis Marion's Wijemanne and Sharifi defeated Rudolpho and Guiseppe Schwarz (Brazil). In the No. 2 match, Kieck and Bair over took Jack Harvie (Snellville, Ga.) and Chris Acker (Knoxville, Tenn.). Adriano Kira (Brazil) and Trent Slagle (Knoxville, Tenn.) fell to Keth and Moerkerken 8-4.
In singles play, Wijemanne beat Harvie 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 match. Sharifi was victorious over Slagel 6-3, 6-2 and Rogers over took Kira 6-4, 6-2. Bair grabbed the No. 4 match from Rodolpho Schwarz 6-1, 6-1. Moerkerken rallied with Acker and came out victorious 6-2, 4-6, 11-9. Poirier took the final match 6-1, 7-5.
The Eagles will be back in action in South Atlantic Conference play against Lenoir-Rhyne, at home on Tuesday March 10. The match begins at 2 p.m.
