ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman senior forward Robbie Hill (Middlesborough, England) and senior defender Evan Preston-Kelly (Galway, Ireland) have been named to the 2011 All-South Atlantic Conference Soccer Teams, the conference announced on Thursday.

Eagles draw No. 5 seed, road trip to Lincoln Memorial on Tuesday in SAC Tournament
ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Carson-Newman Eagles are the No. 5 seed in the 2011 Food Lion Sout Atlantic Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament and will face rival Lincoln Memorial University on Tuesday in Harrogate, Tenn. The Eagles will face the No. 4-seeded Railsplitters at 2 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon. The winner will advance to the tournament semifinals and then the championship match then taking place at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C. on Nov. 4 and 6.

Eagles rally to beat Belmont Abbey in overtime on Senior Night, 3-2
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles rallied for a 3-2 overtime win against visiting Belmont Abbey College on Senior Night on Saturday evening at McCown Field. A header on a rebound from Tyson Adkinson in the 93rd minute was the deciding goal as C-N closed out its 2011 home schedule on a high note.

Alley posts shutout as Eagles battle Mars Hill to 0-0 draw
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Lions' men's soccer team and SAC rival Carson-Newman College battled to a 0-0 draw Wednesday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. The Lions are now 9-4-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the SAC. The Eagles took their season record to 4-8-1 on the season and 3-4-1 in the league.

Eagles fall in overtime on Friday night to Nova Southeastern, 1-0
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles dropped a 1-0 decision on Friday night to Nova Southeastern in a neutral site contest played on the Tusculum College campus. Nova’s James Pucci scored the game’s lone goal in the 98th minute to give NSU a 1-0 win. Pucci put a free kick by C-N’s Mikey Alley (Kingsport, Tenn.)from 21 yards out to give the Sharks the win.

JEFFERSON CITY - The Carson-Newman men's soccer team opened its 2011 season Thursday night with a 4-2 loss to visiting Milligan College at the newly renovated McCown Field. The Buffaloes got a pair of first-half goals from Nahom Tekle as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead at intermission. Carson-Newman tried to rally in the second half, but was unable to make up the difference.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — The Carson-Newman college men’s soccer team has won three consecutive South Atlantic Conference titles and seven out of the last eight. So, needless to say the team was a little perturbed when the preseason coaches’ poll was released, predicting they would finish fourth in the conference.

Senior forward Robert Hill (Middlesbrough, England) was named to the first team, while senior defender Anthony Chiappetta (Morristown, Tenn.), junior midfielder Matt Craine (Morristown, Tenn.) and junior forward Emmanuel Aboagye (Ghana) garnered second team honors.
