Eagles finish 13th at Bobcat invitational

EATONTON, Ga. – The Carson-Newman Eagles shot a team 299 (+19) in Tuesday's final round and slipped to a 13th place finish at the 2012 Bobcat Invitational held at the Golf Club at Cuscawilla.

C-N fired an 869 for the tournament against one of the strongest fields of the year. Two Eagles finished in the Top 20, led by junior Gavin Hay.

Hay closed the tournament with a 76 (+6) on Tuesday after a pair of rounds in the 60s during Monday's 3 holes. He finished tied for 16th with a 213 total.

Senior Liam Ashby finished 19th after firing C-N's low round of the day on Tuesday with a 72. He finished at 213, a stroke back of Hay.

Sophomore Jonathan Kim-Moss finished tied for 28th with a 75 in Tuesday's round. He had the Eagles low round of the tournament with a 66 Monday morning.

Junior Michael Horenkamp finished the tournament in 75th after a 75 and senior Alex Coughlin finished 88th with an 80 on Tuesday.

No. 1 Barry University won the event with a three-round 833, finishing 7-under par for the tournament.

The Eagles return to action March 26-27 at the Bearcat Invitational in Greenwood, S.C., hosted by Lander University.
