JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – After trailing by as many as 12 in the second half, Carson-Newman (18-4, 11-3 South Atlantic Conference) rallied to tie the game with 13 seconds in regulation before winning at Newberry (10-12, 6-8 SAC) in overtime 89-83. The win is C-N’s seventh consecutive – the longest winning streak in the southeast region.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (17-4, 10-3 South Atlantic Conference) used a 36-13 run to break open a one-point first half lead and never look back in a 91-59 win over Mars Hill (3-18, 0-13 SAC) Wednesday night at Holt Fieldhouse. The win is C-N’s sixth consecutive, giving C-N its longest win streak since capturing eight in a row late in the 2003-2004 season.

McClure with 1.9 seconds left as Carson-Newman (16-4, 9-3 SAC) picked up a 61-58 home conference win over the Bears (14-6, 7-5 SAC) to stay within a game of first in the league standings. The Eagles have won five straight games.

JEFFESON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman (15-4, 8-3 SAC) may be a little revenge-minded Saturday when Lenoir-Rhyne (14-5, 7-4 SAC) steps on to the Holt Fieldhouse hardwood Saturday for go-around number two with the Eagles. L-R handed C-N its first loss of the season back on Dec. 1 with a 69-57 win. The 57 points are still the fewest the Eagles have put up all season - the only sub 60-point game of the year.

The Eagles and Bulldogs tip at 4 p.m. Saturday from Cuddy Arena in Wingate, N.C. The Eagles have lost seven straight against Wingate – although four of those defeats have been by 10 points or less.

WINGATE, N.C. – Carson-Newman (14-4, 7-3 South Atlantic Conference) closed Saturday’s game at Cuddy Arena against Wingate (12-6, 8-2 SAC) on an 11-2 run to snap seven-game losing streak to the Bulldogs with a 63-62 road victory. The win is the first for Carson-Newman coach Chuck Benson against Wingate; he’s now beaten every team in the league at least once.

BREVARD, N.C. – Carson-Newman (13-4, 6-3 South Atlantic Conference) turned a 14-point first half deficit around behind solid second half shooting and defense to pick up a 74-69 win over Brevard (2-15, 1-7 SAC) on the road. Antoine Davis (Rustburg, Va.) hit the front end of a 1-and-1 with four seconds to play in regulation to force the overtime period.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman ( 12-4, 5-3 SAC) hasn’t dropped a game to Brevard (2-16, 1-6 SAC) since Feb. 17, 2010. In the interim, the Eagles have won five in a row over the Tornados and need a sixth straight when the Eagles head to Boshamer Gymnasium Wednesday night to stay two games back of first place in the SAC standings. The Eagles picked up an 81-62 win over the Tornados to close November with a 5-0 record.

For two, the Eagles lost back-to-back games for the first time since dropping two in a row to Anderson and Wingate to close the 2011-2012 season. Carson-Newman will have to contend with two talented posts in the Indians Lee Martin and Tyrece Little.

The last two times C-N has come away with a win over those nationally ranked Railsplitter clubs. Carson-Newman and LMU resume their rivalry Wednesday at Holt Fieldhouse at 8 p.m. as the Eagles try for a third consecutive win over the Railsplitters.

Anderson is tied with Wingate for first in the league, while LMU was tied with C-N for second.

Chuck Benson’s Eagles (11-2, 4-1 SAC) received six votes in the latest poll. That places them 36th in the national standings between King (Tenn.) and Augusta State (Ga.).

The win is C-N’s third straight, while the loss is the fourth in a row for Mars Hill.

The Eagles held the Wolves 19 points below their 95 points per game scoring average.

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Eagles (9-2, 2-1 South Atlantic Conference) men’s basketball team defeated the Tusculum Pioneers (2-9, 1-2 South Atlantic Conference) by a score of 67-56 at Pioneer Arena on Wednesday night. The Eagles were led in scoring by Antoine Davis (Rustburg, Va.) with his 17 points as the Eagles have won two straight against the rival Pioneers. Davis was joined in double figures by Ish Sanders (Cleveland, Tenn.), with his 16 points and Cody Henegar (South Pittsburg, Tenn.) added 11 points and two three-pointers for Carson-Newman.

The 131st meeting between the two schools comes with C-N trying to get back in the winning column after Saturday’s 70-66 loss to Queens. The Eagles lead the all-time series with the Pioneers 88-42.

The Eagles travel to Charlotte, N.C. to face off with the Royals Saturday at 2 p.m. The Eagles dropped the Royals 90-55 behind a career high 36 points from Antoine Davis (Rustburg, Va.) and 25 from Ish Sanders (Cleveland, Tenn.) back on Dec. 18.
