Shores Win Series 3-1, Look to Win Runs Scored Championship
The Orange Shores behind the hitting of Lucas Mohon and Kyle Koeneman win the the series against the Blue Chips 3-1, with a 6-2 win today. With the win, the Shores look to win the overall runs scored title tomorrow.
Lucas Mohon was 2-3 with a three run HR in the first inning to help the Shores to a lead they would never give up. Kyle Koeneman continued his torrid hitting, going 2-3 with 2 doubles and a walk. Brad Dotson got the start for the Orange Shores and was impressive in his outing. Dotson went 4 innings, giving up 3 hits and striking out five batters.
With one out, Lance Rorex reached on a error, followed by a double by Koeneman. Lucas Mohon then hit a blast to left field and give his team the early lead.
The Blue Chips scored one run in the bottom of the second, on a Zach Hitt infield out to score Philip Duncan who doubled with one out. The Chips scored their second run in the 5th on a pinch hit single by Evan Jurjevic, scoring Trace Rogers.
The Orange Shores scored three more runs in the 5th inning. Lance Rorex led off with a single, Koeneman walked. Mohon moved the runners to second and third with an infield out. The bases were loaded after a Zach Long single. A wild pitch scored Rorex and Evan Kirkpatrick scored Koeneman with an infield out. Zach Long never stopped running, rounding third and scoring ahead of the first baseman throw.
Ryan Fillers came in relief in the bottom of the fifth with runners on first and second. He got a comebacker to start the double play and end the threat. Fillers threw the 6th and 7th to pick up the save.
By winning the series, the Blue Team must buy dinner, and work two community events. The overall score in the series is 22-7 in favor of the Orange Team. Loser of the overall runs scored must paint the OF wall and chain link fence at the field.
