Carson-Newman’s Bridgewater Named SAC Pitcher of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Carson-Newman College’s Austin Bridgewater has been named the South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending March 1, announced conference officials Tuesday.

Bridgewater, a junior from Morristown, Tenn. (Walters State C.C.), set the tone for the Eagles sweep of Newberry last weekend. The junior fired a complete-game five hitter, surrenduring only one unearned run, in the Eagles series-opening win over visiting NC, 9-1.

Bridgewater struck out five, while walking three, to improve to 2-0 on the season. He wins the Pitcher of the Week honor for the second time this season.

C-N improved to 4-2 in SAC play with the series sweep.

Wingate outfielder Nick Siega-Riz earned SAC Player of the Week honors.
