Eagles finish fourth, Lady Eagles 11th at Southeast Region Championship

HICKORY, N.C. — The Carson-Newman track team had several strong performances in the Southeast Region Championship at Irwin Belk Track in Hickory, N.C. on Saturday.

The Eagles claimed fourth place, while the Lady Eagles finished 11th. The meet, which featured track teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee, was also used for scoring individual South Atlantic Conference winners.

Region champions for the Eagles were Joe McMurray in the shot put and Jason Brown in the long jump. SAC champions were McMurray in the shot put, Brown in the long jump and high jump, Stephen Brown in the high jump, Joey Nielson in the 400-meter dash and Jadamion Ross in the 400 hurdles.

The team had several other participants who placed in the top six in either meet:
